Rajnath Flays Personal Attacks on Advani

Slamming the Congress for its personal attacks against the NDA prime ministerial hopeful LK Advani, Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh on Thursday accused the grand old party of being the slave of a family.

Singh blamed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi of launching a personal tirade against BJP stalwart LK Advani.

“The main thing that our leaders have said that UPA Government was weak, he (Singh) should not take the comments on weakness of UPA Government as a personal attack on him,” said Singh while interacting with the media in Surat, Gujarat.

“We are the main Opposition party and PM should take our comments in a constructive manner. The PM needs to abide by the dignity of the position he is holding and should not indulge in personal attacks,” Singh was quoted as saying by correspondents.

“It was the Congress that started mud-slinging which was totally uncalled for. They have started making personal attacks on BJP leaders,” he said.

Blunting Sonia Gandhi’s remarks accusing Advani of being “a slave of the RSS” Singh said the BJP was an ideology-driven party with no followers or slaves, before adding that at least his party was “not slave of a family”.
