After Attacks, India Re-considering Afghanistan Policy: Reports

Following terror attacks in Kabul that killed six Indians, New Delhi plans to cut down its operations in Afghanistan and is likely to urge its citizens in that country to come back home, said media reports citing government sources.

Reports said that the government was contemplating over reducing its presence at reconstruction projects in Afghanistan, meaning projects presently underway could be completed swiftly and even there could be a freeze on taking up new projects.

According to reports, unstable security scenario in Afghanistsan – which is of late highlighted by Kabul attacks targeting Indians – is gradually forcing New Delhi to reconsider its role in that country.

Indian officials acknowledge that the political and military situation has deteriorated in Afghanistan.
