Four Indian Migrant Workers Killed in Malaysia Shophouse Fire

Four Indian migrant workers died in Malaysia as a fire broke out at a textile shophouse, which a fire department official believed as an arson attack, said media reports.

Bernama news agency quoted Deputy director of Johor fire and rescue department Syukor Sani Hashim as saying that the early morning fire in the southern state was probably deliberately lit, said reports.

“We believe that arson is involved as a four litre petrol container was found at the scene,” he was quoted as saying.

He said that the charred bodies of the victims were yet to be identified, reports said.

Shop owner Muthu Veeraya said that two of the victims were his workers who began their jobs only two days before. The other two were their friends.
