Cong seeks EC intervention on BJP’s ‘false complaints’

A Congress delegation headed by its general secretary Girish Dewangan on Friday called on chief electoral officer Subrat Sahoo to seek the poll panel’s intervention to prevent the BJP from registering “false complaints” against the party.

Dewangan was accompanied by another general secretary Shailesh Nitin Trivedi and a member of the Congress election team, Kiranmayi Nayak.

They also reportedly handed over “substantial proofs” to show that the BJP lodged “false complaints” against their party.

Trivedi also responded to the charges against him of violation of poll code of conduct, levelled by BJP leader Naresh Gupta a couple of days ago.

Replying to the notice issued by the commission in this regard, Trivedi said he was a responsible office bearer of the Congress and that he never ever had levelled baseless allegations against anyone. Whatever he had said was all backed by proofs and record, he added. “The BJP leaders are actually perturbed because I effectively counter their allegations and raise issues that irritate them. That’s why they are registering false complaints,” he said.
