Seven die in California university shooting

CALIFORNIA: In a shocking incident seven people have been killed and three injured in a shooting at a California college. The suspect was detained at a shopping centre in the nearby city of Alameda, says police. Bodies covered with tarpaulin were laid outside. The footage shows injured people emerging from buildings. The Oikos University is a private religious institution offering courses in theology, music and nursing.

“We know this to be a Korean college. A gunman came in to the college and fired multiple shots,” says Johnna Watson, of Oakland Police. The shooter was a former nursing student of the college. A witness, Brian Snow, told reporters, “One of the people who was inside the building, she was saying there is a crazy guy inside.

“She did say someone got shot in the chest right next to her before she got taken off in an ambulance. “California Governor Jerry Brown said the incident was “shocking and sad”. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and friends and the entire community affected by this senseless act of violence.”

The suspect was a Korean man in his 40s, with heavy build and wearing khaki clothessays reports.

The shooting comes after an Ohio high school student killed three peers and injured six in February.
