Doctor sacked for black marketing Covid-19 vaccines

A doctor posted in a government hospital in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district was dismissed from service for selling Covid-19 vaccine at his private clinic, it wais announcied on Monday.

Dr Ashok Kumar Makhija, a child specialist at the Primary Health Centre in Korba, was accused of selling the vaccines, Korba Collector Ranu Sahu said.

Korba Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sunil Nayak probed the matter, leading to the doctor’s sacking, Sahu said.

A directive has been issued to seal the private clinic which was being run without any license.

Each vial of vaccine has 10 doses, and once opened, all doses have to be used within a certain time. Dr Makhija said he had been bringing the vaccines considered as waste.

Three employees suspended for accepting money

Three employees in the office of Deputy Director (Mines) were suspended in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja district after a video went viral showing them taking money from transporters, it was announced on Monday.

Surguja Collector Sanjeev Kumar Jha suspended Assistant Grade-III Neeta Mehta, Computer Operator Sushma Nagvanshi and driver Sandeep Nayak with immediate effect, a press release said.

During the suspension, they will be attached to the office of the District Collector at Ambikapur town.
