Miraculous Escape for 135 in Turkish Boeing Crash

Turkish Airlines Flight-1951, a Boeing 737-800, with 135 people on board, including a baby and seven crew members, crashed while approaching runway A9 at Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport on Wednesday. The aircraft suffered extensive damage in the crash that injured nearly 20 people.

Initial reports said a person had died in the incident, but Turkish Transport Minister Binali Yildirim later clarified that no-one had died, says a report on the BBC website

Flight 1951 originated in Istanbul was approaching Schipol for the landing when the crash occurred.

The impact split the fuselage near the front of the wing, while tail section was sheared off. One of the engines was also sheared off from a wing, although there was no sign of fire or smoke, say correspondents.

TV captures on the internet show luggage strewn around the crash site.

Dutch television says rescue operations were hindered as the fields where the aircraft crashed were recently ploughed.

Helicopters, ambulances and fire engines were immediately pressed into service t aid rescue operations.

A9 is one of the six runways at the Schiphol which is one of the busiest airports in Europe.

The cause behind the crash was not immediately known.
