Hitting Back, Iran Says Clinton Remarks ‘New Deception’

Iran has rapped US Secretary Hillary Clinton over her Monday’s statement that country is heading towards ‘military dictatorship’, reported BBC.

According to report, Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki described Clinton’s remarks in Qatar as a ‘new deception’.

On Monday, while addressing students in Qatar, Clinton had said that Tehran was being ‘supplanted’ by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Mottaki was quoted as saying by semi-official Iranian Students News Agency, “America itself is trapped in a kind of military dictatorship, fuelling tension in the region.”

“America has a wrong attitude toward the issues in the Middle East and it is a continuation of their past wrong policies,” he was quoted as saying.

In the meantime, warning Iran, the Russian government said that they might still consent to further sanctions, said report.

Report quoted a Kremlin spokeswoman as saying that Tehran should enhance its cooperation with the UN nuclear body by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and dispel fears regarding its nuclear programme.

“The international community must be sure that Iran’s nuclear programme is peaceful. But if these obligations are not fulfilled then nobody can rule out the use of sanctions,” Natalya Timakova was quoted as saying.
