Madhya Pradesh budget 2018: Highlights

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Finance Minister Jayant Malaiya presented the state budget-2018 in the state Assembly on Wednesday . Agriculture, health, education and employment sectors remained main focus areas of the budget.
Here are the highlights from his budget speech:
* Budget allocates Rs 37,000 crore for agriculture sector
* Rs 224 crores for development of sports
* Rs 240 crore for to develop family quarter for policemen
* Rs 2986 crore for clean drinking water in rural areas
* Rs 11932 crore to develop sewer network in the state
* Budget allocates Rs 438 crore for Ayush
* Rs 1175 crore Rs National Rural Health Mission (NHM)
* Rs 697 crore for pure drinking water in urban areas
* Budget aims to lay 3,000 kms of new roads
* Rs 3, 109 crore for ‘Sarv Siksha Abhiyan’
* Aim to set up 700 new high school and 480 new senior secondary schools
* Rs 3,722 crore for women and child welfare
* Rs 10,928 crore for development of irrigation
* 6 new medical colleges to be opened
* Rs 37,000 crore for agriculture sector
* Rs 700 crore for developing smart city
* Budget allocates Rs 18072 crore for power sector
* Aim to bring 2 lakh hectares of more land into irrigated area
* Target to lay 532 new roads in the financial year
* Target to start Metro train services in Bhopal and Indore
* Rs 10,000 crore for roads development in the state
* Rs 91.89 crore to be allocated for development of fishery
* Budget allocates Rs 1038 cr for animal husbandry
