Modi calls for UN resolution to unitedly fight terrorism

Ottawa: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for a UN resolution to unitedly fight against the menace and its support base as he condemned the terror attack on Canada’s Parliament Hill last year.
“All those who believe in humanism should unite to fight against terrorism. There is a need for a UN resolution to fight terrorism,” Modi said at a joint press conference with his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper here.

“We will deepen our cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism. We will also promote a comprehensive global strategy, and consistent policy and action against all sources of terrorism and its support,” he added.

“We in India felt Canada’s pain when their city was struck by a senseless act of terrorism,” he said. An armed attacker shot and fatally wounded a Canadian Forces member at the National War Memorial before being shot dead in Parliament’s Centre Block in October last year.
