CIA Says Headley Not its Agent

Seeking to put an end to speculations, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the US has strongly denied that Pakistani-origin American national and suspected Lashkar operative David Coleman Headley was its agent at any point of time.

Headley was last week charged for criminal conspiracy in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

“I can’t comment on an ongoing investigation, but any suggestion that this individual worked for the CIA is flat wrong,” CIA spokesperson Marie E Harf said in response to query specifically about Headley and his links with CIA.

Headley was arrested last month by the FBI for plotting terror attacks in Denmark and India and was planning to go to Pakistan via Philadelphia at the time of arrest.

News both in the US and India media over last few days said that Headley could be a ‘double agent’ working for the CIA as well as Pakistani terror groups including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which carried out terror attacks.

Besides refuting any links between Headley and CIA, the spokesperson refrained from making any comment on the Headley-Rana case arguing that it is an ongoing investigation.
