5.22 crore additional interim relief to flood affected districts of state

Bhopal : Rs. 5.22 crore additional interim relief has been provided to flood-affected districts. Of this, Rs, 10 lakh has been allocated to Sidhi, Rs. 40 lakh to Indore, Rs. 1.80 crore to Sehore, Rs. 10 lakh to Burhanpur, Rs. 60 lakh to Harda, Rs. one crore to Dewas, Rs. 15 lakh to Katni, Rs. 20 lakh to Khargone, Rs. 25 lakh to Hoshangabad, Rs. 12 lakh to Seoni and Rs. 50 lakh has been allocated to Vidisha district. The State Government has already made available Rs. five crore as advance allocation for flood-relief at the rate of Rs. 10 lakh per district. Rs. 46 lakh has been made available to four districts for purchasing flood relief material and motor boats. Of this, Rs. 10 lakh has been made available to Sehore, Rs. 13 lakh to Vidisha, Rs. eight lakh to Jabalpur and Rs. 15 lakh has been made available to Raisen district. Rs. 50 lakh has also been provided to districts for buying relief material and repairs of motor boats at the rate of Rs. one lakh per district.
Above average rainfall has been registered in 15 districts of the state till August 3 whereas 24 districts have received normal and 11 districts below normal rainfall.
So far, floods have claimed 15 lives and 245 cattle heads besides damaging houses etc. Due to rains/floods, four persons died in Hoshangabad, three each in Ujjain and Dewas, two in Damoh and one each in Sehore, Betul and Dhar districts. As many as 239 and six cattle heads perished in Sehore and Dewas districts, besides damage to houses and crops, which is being assessed. Flood relief camps have also been opened in Hoshangabad, Sehore, Dewas and other districts.

The districts where above average rains have been received include Jabalpur, Mandla, Damoh, Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, Khandwa, Ujjain, Dewas, Shivpuri, Datia, Sehore, Hoshangabad, Harda and Betul whereas Katni, Balaghat, Dindori, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Umaria, Dhar, Alirajpur, Barwani, Neemuch and Guna have received below normal rainfall. Remaining districts have registered below rains. Heavy rains have been predicted in the next 48 hours in one or two places of Rewa, Sagar, Jabalpur and Shahdol divisions.
