Ranveer Singh is currently working on his upcoming film ’83, which is being directed by Kabir Khan and is based on the journey of the 1983 Indian Cricket Team and their road to victory. The actor has been sharing candid moments and location photos from the film for months. In fact, none other than Kapil Dev, who was the Captain of the 1983 Indian squad and Mohinder Amarnath, who was part of the squad were the ones to train Ranveer and the rest of the cast of the film in Dharamshala couple of months back.

Now, Ranveer has shared a series a new photos in which he seems to be engaged in an intense conversation with the former Indian skipper (Kapil Dev). While is some the two are smiling and chitchatting, in others they look dead serious. It has left us wondering whether it is about Ranveer’s preparation for the film, or just a candid chat about Kapil’s yesteryear days.

For those unaware, Ranveer Singh will be seen paying the role of Kapil Dev in the film. The actor has also grown his hair to get the look right. In fact, Ranveer has shared, in the past, a number of photos and videos, wearing the cricketing gear and even played a shot like the former Indian all-rounder – his famous pull shot with one leg up.

’83 also stars Saqib Saleem who is set to play the role of Mohinder Amarnath, in the film. In addition to them, actors Jiiva, Hary Sandhu, Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Chirag Patil, Tahir Bhasin, Jatin Sarna, Satish Alekar and several others are part of the cast of ’83.

The Indian cricket team had quite the journey during the 1983 ICC Word Cup. The team had almost lost to Zimbabwe during the group stages and was on their way out of the World Cup, when Kapil Dev single-handedly scored 175 runs to beat Zimbabwe and qualify for the next round.Fortunately, India went on to become one of the finalists from there and despite the fact that they met an unbeatable West Indies team in the finals, they miraculously defeated the West Indians and became world champions. The photo of Kapil Dev holding the World Cup on the balcony of Lords in London is one of the most iconic photos in all of Indian sports.
