Corruption-Accused Justice Dinakaran Drops out of Foreign Study Tour

Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Justice PD Dinakaran, accused of acquisitioning property disproportionate to his known sources of income, has chosen to leave out an official judges delegation to Australia led by Chief Justice of India.

“Justice Dinakaran has himself opted out of the trip to Australia,” Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan said on the sidelines of a conference in New Delhi on Saturday.

The said trip, a “study tour” to Australia, would commence on Monday and be headed by the CJI.

Apart from CJI, some judges from the Supreme Court, high courts and district courts would be the part of the delegation which Dinakaran has dropped out.

Dinakara’’s decision comes in the backdrop of the Supreme Cour’s collegium meeting on Friday which discussed his elevation to the apex court.
