SP-Cong Heading for Friendly Fights: Diggy
Without discounting further twists in the incredulous Congress-SP alliance tale in Uttar Pradesh, state party bosses, Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Digvijay Singh on Saturday said the parties seemed to be poised for a friendly contest in the Lok Sabha elections.
In-charge of party affairs in the state, Digvijay Singh, lamented that four rounds of talks between the partners had failed to end the deadlock over seat shring.
He said that the two parties were heading for friendly fights on several seats including Rampur, Pratapgarh, Farrukhabad and Salempur.
He, however, said that Congress talks were still open and talking to both Mulayam Singh and Amar Singh in, perhaps, last minute attempts to thrash out the issue.
He added that if talks fail the Congress was willing to contest all 80 seats in the state.
