ICC Cannot Guarantee Player Safety

Stating the obvious, the International Cricket Council on Sunday said it could not  guarantee safety and security of international cricket players in any part of the world following the Lahore terrorist attack.

ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat in Sydney said that the orchestrated attacks on the Sri Lanka team convoy in Lahore, Pakistan last Tuesday had forever changed the landscape of the sporting world.

Responding to queries on if the ICC was unable to ensure player security at the 2011 World Cup scheduled for the Indian subcontinent, Logart said: “That would be the attitude to any event anywhere in the world.”
