Pakistan to lift the ban from You Tube on December
Islamabad: Pakistan will lift the ban from popular video sharing website You Tube from next month, an official said. You Tube had banned in Pakistan following the release of a film that allegedly insulted Islam.
Farooq Awan, chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) said the website may be reopened within 20 days, news agencies reported on Friday. Awan said talks were underway with Google, the company that owns YouTube, to block the “blasphemous contents” of the anti Islam film.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf had ordered the ban on the website in September, in the aftermath of protests against the film.
