Shivraj says, Negligence in development not be tolerated

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed that payment of wages should not be delayed anywhere. Camps should be organised wherever payments under MNREGA and other schemes are pending. Information about the camps should be given through public announcement system and payments should be made in the presence of officers. He said that negligence in development works will not be tolerated. He said that Hariyali Chunari Yojna should be implemented in mission mode on the banks of Narmada river.
Shri Chouhan was reviewing activities of the Panchayat & Rural Development Department here today. Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, Minister of State Shri Dev Singh Sayyam, Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat & Rural Development Smt. Aruna Sharma and senior departmental officers were present on the occasion.
It was informed at the meeting that works carried out in rural areas will be assessed through reputed non-government organisations. Shri Chouhan said that action should be taken against persons who will be found guilty of irregularities following the assessment. Directing to complete CC road constructions in villages under Panch Parmeshwar Yojna at the earliest and strict compliance of fiscal discipline, he said that action should be taken against persons guilty for delay.
Reviewing progress of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the Chief Minister lauded plantation of saplings along banks of Narmada river under Hariyali Chunari Scheme. He said that Panchayat & Rural Development and the Forest Department should jointly implement the scheme in mission mode.
The Chief Minister said that besides generating employment, large number of permanent assets have also been created in Madhya Pradesh’s rural areas under MNREGA. The Chief Minister also lauded positive change brought about in living standard of beneficiaries of Nandan Falodyan, Medh Bandhan Yojna and Kapil Dhara Yojna. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan stressed the need to benefit a large number of small and marginal farmers as per eligibility under Medh Bandhan Yojna. It was informed that so far 6 crore 8 lakh mandays’ worth employment has been made available during the current year at a cost of over Rs. 1437 crore. Banking facility has been made available in state’s 70,371villages, through which wages will be transferred directly to labourers’ bank accounts.
He also expressed pleasure over sanction of one lakh cases of poor sections in the rural areas under Mukhyamantri Grameen Aawas Mission. The Chief Minister also praised remarkable achievements made in skill development while reviewing progress of Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission and District Poverty Initiative Project. Over 14 thousand rural youths have been linked with self-employment so far this year. As many as 102 youths have secured jobs in Navy through departmental training programmes. Such army training programmes will now be held in Rewa, Narsinghpur and Shivpuri districts. In view army’s requirement, training will be imparted to youths on a large scale in Gwalior, Bhind, Morena and Shivpuri districts.
The Chief Secretary directed that funds for house construction should be given only after ensuring availability of land. At the meeting, activities of Total Sanitation Campaign, Midday Meal Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna, Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna, Integrated Development Programme (IAP) were also discussed.
