‘Modi ji, your time is up. The time for change has come’: Rahul Gandhi tweets people are voting for NYAY

New Delhi: With five phases of the Lok Sabha Elections over and just two more to go, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s time was up and a new government was on its way in.

Referring to the good voter turnout that has been recorded so far in most of the states, Rahul sought to link it with the Congress’ 2019 poll promise of NYAY (minimum guarantee scheme) and stated even senior citizens have also understood the powerful concept.

Here’s what Rahul Gandhi tweeted: “Across India, it’s not just young people who are coming out in large numbers to vote for NYAY; older more experienced voters too have understood how powerful the idea is. Modi ji, your time is up. The time for change has come.”

Along with the tweet, Rahul also attached a video in which randomly picked citizens to talk about the first vote they cast and also why it was important to exercise one’s franchise.

Rahul’s sister and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also hit out at PM Modi on Tuesday, likening him with Duryodhana over his arrogance. The Mahabharata character Duryodhana too had “such arrogance”, she stated.

BJP president Amit Shah hit back, saying: “The people of the country will decide who is Duryodhana and who is Arjun.”
Priyanka also slammed Modi over his recent remark calling her late father and former PM Rajiv Gandhi “Bhrashtachari Number 1” (the most corrupt).

“This election is about achievements of the BJP-led Central government. But to hide their failures, they try to divert the attention of people of the country. This country has never forgiven ego and arrogance. History is witness to this, the Mahabharata is witness to this,” she said at a rally.

“Duryodhana also had such arrogance. When Lord Krishna went to show him the truth, make him understand, he tried to take him captive,” she added. Reading out a few lines by Hindi poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Priyanka said: “Jab naash manush par chhata hai, pehle vivek mar jata hai… (wisdom is the first casualty before someone’s downfall).”
