PM Narendra Modi rally, Priyanka Gandhi roadshow in Delhi today – Know time, location, traffic restrictions

New Delhi: As Delhi goes to polls on May 12, where seven parliamentary seats are up for grabs, the political climate in the national capital has heated up. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a mega rally, called ‘Vijay Sankalp rally’ in New Delhi on Wednesday. On the other hand, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is also slated to hold to massive roadshows in North East Delhi and South Delhi Lok Sabha constituencies.

With the two high-profile political events slated for today, Delhiites must plan their travel well in advance as traffic snarls are expected on the routes. Notably, the Delhi Traffic Police has not issued any specific restriction on traffic movement in the national capital for today, but traffic jams are expected in Central Delhi, North East and South Delhi.

Timing and Location:

PM Modi’s Vijay Sankalp rally will be held at 5:30 pm at Ramlila Maidan today.

Priyanka Gandhi will hold two road shows – in North East Delhi Lok Sabha seat and South Delhi Lok Sabha seat – from 4 pm to 5:30 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm, respectively.

Areas to be covered during Priyanka Gandhi’s rally:

The Congress leader will be covering 2.2 kilometers in the road show in North East Delhi, with the rally starting from Brahmpuri Pulia and ending at Yamuna Vihar.

Priyanka Gandhi is expected to cover a distance of 1.5 kilometers in the road show in South Delhi, which will commence from Valmiki Marg and finish at Mehroli, Badarpur Road.

Traffic restrictions:

So far, no specific advisory on traffic restrictions has been issued on the movement in the city. However, the Delhi Traffic Police has warned commuters of possible traffic jams in central and east Delhi owing to the political events.

Traffic is expected to be affected in central Delhi regions, including Delhi Gate, ITO, Barakhamba and KG Marg because of PM Modi’s rally at Ramleela Maidan. On the other hand, Priyanka Gandhi’s roadshow which will begin from Brahmpuri and end at Yamuna Vihar, via Gonda Chowk and DTC Depot, may cause traffic snarls on the route.
