Yoga education to be compulsory in state: CM

Bhopal: Yoga education will be made compulsory in schools of the state from class 1 to V. Addressing a meeting of Madhya Pradesh Yoga Parishad, Chief Minister directed to prepare course for practical and theory for Yoga education here today.

Shri Chouhan said that Yoga education should be imparted from childhood so that its foundation is strengthened. About availability of Yoga teachers, Shri Chouhan said that initially, master trainers should be raised. These trainers will train teachers. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed School Education Department to prepare Yoga education course and outlines for teachers’ training within a month.
It is noteworthy that Yoga education is being imparted to students of class VI to VIII in the state. Under it, teaching and reading material has been provided for Yoga introduction, Yogic postures, Surya Namaskar, aasan, pranayam, mudras and meditation. At the meeting, issues pertaining to Yoga education’s training and availability of Yoga teachers were also discussed.

Archana Chitnis, Public Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Medical Education Minister Shri Anoop Mishra, Finance Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya, Minister of State for Sports & Youth Welfare Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Shri Babulal Jain, Rajya Sabha Member Shri Anil Madhav Dave, Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram, Principal Secretary School Education Shri Sanjay Singh, Principal Secretary Health Shri Praveer Krishna, Principal Secretary Higher Education Shri J.N. Kansotiya, Principal Secretary Medical Education Shri Ajay Tirkey, Director Sports Dr. Shailendra Shrivastava, Director Rajya Shiksha Kendra Smt. Rashmi Arun Shami and council’s members were present on the occasion.
