Villages to be linked with all-weather roads

Bhopal: Over 9 thousand village in the state will be linked with all-weather roads under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that villages in the state should be developed as Model Villages with basic amenities. He said that Model Villages should be equipped with all the facilities including roads, electricity, piped water schemes, school and Anganwadi buildings, sports ground etc. The Chief Minister was addressing rural development-based session at commissioner-collector conference here today.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that no stone will be left unturned for villages’ development. Villages can be made well equipped with effective implementation of various rural development schemes. He directed that funds allocated under Panch Parmeshwar Yojna should be utilised in time. Dry toilet should be built in each rural house under Maryada Abhiyan. Estimates for rural development works should be made in scientific manner. Shri Chouhan said that challenges related to rural development should be faced positively.

It was informed during the session that 9,109 villages will be linked with all-weather roads under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna till the year 2013. This year, works to the tune of Rs. 1600 crore will be sanctioned under Panch Parmeshwar Yojna. As many as 31 thousand 942 cases have been sanctioned under Mukhyamantri Grameen Awas Yojna. Over three lakh self-help groups have been constituted in the state. Drinking water arrangements are being made in all the primary and middle schools of the state. In the villages where piped water schemes are in operation, villagers will be motivated to take water connection.

It was suggested during discussions that draft of separate designs should be made available for construction of cement-concrete roads under Panch Parmeshwar Yojna, single tender should be floated for separate works for drinking water schemes, provision should be made to include MLA’s Fund also in this scheme and Gram Panchayat buildings should be constructed through Panchayats. Those present during discussions included Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, Public Works Minister Shri Nagendra Singh, Animal Husbandry Minister Shri Ajay Vishnoi, Agriculture Minister Dr. Ramkrishna Kusmaria, Minister of State for Agriculture Shri Brijendra Pratap Singh, Minister of State for General Administration Shri K.L. Agrawal, Minister of State for School Education Shri Nanabhau Mohod, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, commissioners and collectors.
