Union Industries Minister Anand Sharma lauds Madhya Pradesh for speedy development and emergence as an agriculture power

Bhopal: Union Commerce & Industries Minister Shri Anand Sharma has lauded Madhya Pradesh for speedy development and emerging as a major power in agriculture sector. Shri Sharma was inaugurating Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (CMIC) project and unveiling foundation stone of National Design Institute here today. On the occasion, Madhya Pradesh Industries Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya urged the Union Government to pay more attention to DMIC-related rail projects. MP and former Union Minister Shri Kantilal Bhuria and MP Shri Kailash Joshi were also present on the occasion.
Shri Anand Sharma said that the 2 institutions started at Bhopal today will not only help in development of Madhya Pradesh, but also entire India. He said that India has the capability of emerging as hub of design outsourcing in the world. Design sector is no less important than IT and engineering sectors and large number of jobs will be created in this sector. He said that design is important in every thing of use in life as it manifests in creativity of human beings. India boasts of rich design tradition, but lagged behind in the sector in modern times. In many small countries, there are 90 to 100 designers on every 10 lakh people as against only 2 on 10 lakh people in India. Five new National Design Institutes being set up in the country will a go a long way in removing this shortcoming.
The Union Industries Minister said that formulation of national manufacturing policy is a major achievement of India. Contribution of manufacturing in GDP in India is only 16 percent, which needs to be increased to 26 percent. He said that more jobs will be created in manufacturing sector. Shri Sharma said that investment and manufacturing zone will give a fillip to development of country. This zone has been sanctioned for Pithampur-Mhow in Madhya Pradesh. He said that Rs. 18 thousand crore will be invested in Vikram Industrial Township in Ujjain and 80 thousand jobs will be created. As many as 30 thousand jobs will be generated at Pithampur.
Industries Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya said that despite worldwide recession, Madhya Pradesh achieved 10 percent growth rate during last 8 years. He said that establishment of National Design Institute has met a long felt need of Madhya Pradesh. He said that being landlocked was once Madhya Pradesh’s biggest weakness, but now it has become its strength. He urged to set up Trade & Fair Centre at Bhopal, accord international status to Khajuraho Gift Fair and establishment of mega leather cluster at Indore. He said that in agriculture sector, Madhya Pradesh is first not only in India, but in Asia also. Madhya Pradesh is also pioneer in implementation of DMIC.
Director of National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad Shri Pradyumn Vyas gave information about National Institute of Design, Bhopal and lauded cooperation of Madhya Pradesh in this work. DMIC’s Chief Executive Officer Shri Amitabh Kant said that DMIC passes through 6 states of the country, but has highest possibilities in Madhya Pradesh since its topographic situation is ideal. He said that 22 lakh jobs will be created in the state in next 10 years. Union Secretary Industrial Policy and Promotion Shri Saurabh Chandra also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Union Industries Minister Shri Anand Sharma and state’s Industries Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya inaugurated DMIC project and unveiled foundation stone of National Institute of Design. On the occasion, they also inspected an agriculture-based exhibition. Additional Chief Secretary Shri P.K. Dash delivered the welcome address and threw light on various aspects of Madhya Pradesh’s development. Commissioner Industries Shri A.K. Bhatt proposed a vote of thanks.
