CM seeks sanction to Rs. 2,812 crore Simhastha project

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has urged the Union Planning Commission of India to accord sanction to Rs. 2,812 crore project for Simhastha to be held at Ujjain in year 2016.
In a letter to Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the Chief Minister informed that approximately 4 to 5 crore devotees are expected to participate in the “Simhashta 2016”. Devotees not only from India but also from foreign countries participate in it. Municipal Corporation, Ujjain has prepared a “Master Plan” for organising Simhastha according to which all concerning departments of the State Government will work. This plan includes schemes identified for the City Development Plan on which approval has been received from Central Sanctioning & Monitoring Committee (CSMC) of Government of India.
The Chief Minister has written that taking into consideration the quantum of work and the estimated time, the State Government has already given sanction for Rs. 731 crore and work has commenced. The Planning Commission has provided financial support to Governments of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttarakhand for organising Kumbh Melas.
The Chief Minister reminded Shri Ahluwalia that he had requested him to sanction a grant for organising the Kumbh at a meeting for finalization of the state’s annual plan in May 2013.
