‘State doing well on GDP, agriculture growth’

Bhopal.  Vice-Chairman of the  State Planning Commission, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Chetanya Kashyap, speaking at an international seminar on ‘globalisation and Indian economy’, organised by the School of Economics, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, said, “We in partnership with DAVV Indore, are planning to come out with district level indices which will help guide planning in the State and we can focus more on challenges and work strongly on equity. He said that State is doing well on GDP and agriculture growth and has taken steps for benefit of its people particularly women and children, and indeed we would focus more on them.”

This is a two-day seminar which was inaugurated today and is being graced by many experts from across Madhya Pradesh and India. Michael Juma, Chief, UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh Special Guest at the seminar spoke on children and budget, said that need is that economic growth need is to translate for better realisation of rights of children. He urged for more resources for children and need for budgeting for children as Madhya Pradesh has challenges for children. He also called on the University to see how child rights can be integrated in the curriculum of its various disciplines.

Ganesh Kawardia, Head of School of Economics shared tthoughts about the seminar and how it focuses on bringing in experts to debate on the crucial issues of economics. The seminar was supported by Madhya Pradesh Economic Association. N K Dhakkad Vice Chancellor, Devi Ahilya VishwaVidyalays spoke on the occasion and shared his thoughts on how to focus more on vulnerable and girl child and need to look for better ways of employability. A journal of Madhya Pradesh Economic Association was released on the occasion by the guests.
