Skill development training to be imparted to 10 lakh youths in 3 years
Bhopal. Impart training of engineering to youths keeping their interests in view. This was stated by Principal Secretary Technical Education Smt. Kalpana Shrivastava during a workshop on ‘Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana’ here today. She said under the scheme, engineering skill development training will be imparted to 10 lakh youths in 3 years. There would be no age bar to participate in the scheme.
Smt. Shrivastava said that state Steering Committee headed by PS Technical Education will be constituted. She informed that training would be imparted to youths in vacant periods in engineering and polytechnic colleges. Applications have been invited from colleges for participating in the scheme. Central government will bear entire expenses on the scheme. Training will pertain to core engineering sector to ensure that trainees get jobs after it. Concerning Sector Skill Council will issue skill development certificates. Smt. Shrivastava said that attendance of students and teachers in classes must be ensured. She said that results will be good if work is done through open dialogue. Students should be imparted better skills through available resources. She said that along with maintaining honour of teachers, strict action should also be taken wherever necessary. In case of any problem in counseling, it should be solved through discussions.
Director Technical Education Dr. Ashish Dongre informed that one batch will comprise of 25 students. They will be imparted training for 250 hours. Placement and post-placement support will also be given after training. Dr. Dongre said that training should be imparted in trades experts of which are available.
Additional Secretary Shri Sunil Gupta said that the scheme will be monitored and tracked. Web-based management information system will be evolved. Shri Gupta said that counselling must be given to class XII pass students. Other speakers also expressed their opinions.
Representatives of government engineering, polytechnic colleges and private engineering colleges participated in the workshop.
