Patients should not delay in visiting hospital: CS

Bhopal: Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa reviewed situation at a meeting of Swine Flu Control Coordination Committee here today. The Chief Secretary sought detailed information about treatment being done at government and private hospitals. The meeting was informed that delay at the level of patient and family has proved to be cause of aggravation of disease.

Prevention only through precaution

The committee has urged people to be alert even in the case of ordinary cold, flu and cough. In case of problem in breathing, they should take medical consultation and if necessary, have medical examination done. Directives have been given to administer Temiflu even to suspected patient. Medicines have been made available in adequate quantity in all districts. Dose of necessary vaccine should also be administered to doctors and others engaged in treatment of swine flu patients. Necessary masks and PPI should also be used. During video-conferencing yesterday also, collectors and CMHOs have been informed in this regard. The staff engaged in regular treatment should pay attention to personal health safety themselves.

Private hospitals and organisations also active

Efforts for swine flu control are being made on a war-footing in the state. Health and Medical Education departments are making joint efforts to solve this problem and reduce people’s sufferings. Anganwadi works of Women and Child Development Department and ASHA workers are working shoulder to shoulder to enhance awareness about the disease. The Chief Secretary directed make Indian Medical Association, Private Practitioners Association and voluntary organisations to partner in these efforts at district level. Maximum stress in publicity and propaganda is being laid on rushing patients to hospitals.

Avoid crowded places and maintain cleanliness

The coordination committee expressed consensus on remaining alert about virus of the disease and appealed to people to avoid crowded places. They should be alert even in minor cold, flu and cough. Pay attention to cleanliness. They should reach a government or identified private hospital as soon as preliminary symptoms appear and consult doctor.

Teams of officers to visit field

Local staff has been activated in districts of the state. For taking stock of treatment, teams of officers from state capital will leave on tour from February 18. During screening of 961 patients’ samples from January 1 to February 16, as many as 352 were found positive and 356 negative. During the period, 126 patients have recovered after treatment. Intensive treatment was provided to 81 patients, but they died.
