PM inaugurates Aero India 2015, says need to improve defence preparedness

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said we need to improve our defence preparedness while inaugurating the 10th edition of five-day Asia’s premier air show ‘Aero India’ at the Air Force Station at Yelahanka in Bengaluru.
“We will build an industry that will have room for everyone – public sector, private sector and foreign firms,” Prime Minister further said.

Aero India show is being held in IT city with over 300 foreign firms vying with each other to align with “Make in India” campaign of the Narendra Modi government as they eye the burgeoning multi-billion dollar Indian defence market.

Modi on Wednesday became the second Prime Minister to inaugurate the biennial five-day international edition of the aerospace and aviation exhibition after HD Deve Gowda in 1996.

The Prime Minister, who is expected to spent about three hours at the venue and witness a fly past and aerial aerobatics, will also visit the Institute for Stem Cell Biology besides interacting with scientists at the Indian Institute of Sciences.
