MGSY’s online monitoring software honoured with national-level award

Bhopal: The software developed for monitoring of Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna has been honoured with “SKOCH Digital Inclusion Award-2012”. The software has been given certificate of merit from among 100 best projects selected on the national level. The award was bestowed on Madhya Pradesh by Union Law, Justice and Minorities Affairs Minister Shri Salman Khurshid in New Delhi on September 18. At the function, the award was received by Commissioner MNREGA Shri Ravindra Pastor and Chief Engineer of Rural Engineering Service Shri H.P. Shivhare on behalf of Madhya Pradesh Panchayats & Rural Development Department.
Over 500 representatives from all over the country participated in Digital Inclusion Award function organised by SKOCH organization, which is carrying out reform management and innovative works at the national level. Union Secretary Information Technology Shri J. Satyanarayan was specially present on the occasion.
Earlier, the GEO Search software developed by the Panchayats & Rural Development Department with the assistance of NIC has also been honoured on July 10, 2012. “Award for Excellence in e-Governance Initiative in Madhya Pradesh” was bestowed jointly on Rural Engineering Service by the Information Technology Department.
It is noteworthy that general villages upto 500 population and SC, ST villages upto 250 population are being linked with all-weather roads under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna in Madhya Pradesh. These are the villages which could not be covered under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna. Over 18 thousand kilometer pucca roads are under construction in the state under this yojna. About 33 thousand bridges and culverts are also being constructed. Works under MNREGA are being carried out in the scheme at 60:40 ratio of labour and material. Bridges and culverts are being constructed in BRGF districts from BRGF funds and non-BRGF districts with funds of State Head. Use of information technology has accelerated pace of Yojna’s implementation considerably.
