South African batsman slams 490 in one-day game on his 20th birthday

New Delhi: A 20-year-old South African batsman Shane Dadswell on Saturday scored a record 490 runs for his club NWU Pukke against Potch Dorp 1st in a 50-over game. Incidentally, the wicketkeeper batsman achieved the feat on his 20th birthday on Saturday.
Eventually, NWU Pukke won the match by 387 runs, after Potch Dorp 1st managed to come up with 290/9 in their innings.
Dadswell, who celebrated his 20th birthday on Saturday, took just 151 balls to pile up the massive score as he smacked an astonishing 57 sixes and 27 fours. His teammate Ruan Haasbroek also contributed an unbeaten 104 off 54 balls, with the help of 6 sixes and 12 fours, as they powered NWU Pukke to a mammoth 677 for 3 in 50 overs.
Dadswell had a good outing with the ball too as he returned with an impressive figures of 2 for 32 in seven overs, which included one maiden over. 570 of the massive total in the Pukke’s innings came through boundaries – 63 sixes and 48 fours. The bowlers of Potch Dorp 1st were taken to cleaners, quite obviously, with four of them conceding more than 100 runs and other two slammed for more than 90 runs.
