Krishi Mahotsav dedicated to prosperity and development: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has exhorted public representatives to participate in various activities of Krishi Mahotsav having begun from September 25 and boost morale of farmers by honouring their achievements. He urged public representatives to connect every section of society with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan starting from October 2.
Addressing public representatives through video-conferencing from Mantralaya here today, Shri Chouhan dwelt in detail on programmes to be held during Krishi Mahotsav. He said that Krishi Mahotsav is dedicated to farmers’ prosperity and development. Districts, development blocks and villages will be felicitated for excellence in agriculture and related activities. He said that information about visit of Krishi Raths to various villages, development blocks and districts should be given to farmers in advance. He said that the record agriculture growth rate of 24.99 percent is just a milestone and not the destination. Still more journey has to be undertaken. Every effort should be made to make agriculture profitable and disseminate technical knowledge to every farmer. Ministers, MLAs and Panchayat representatives must actively participate in Krishi Mahotsav and give necessary guidance to farmers.
Shri Chouhan informed public representatives that agriculture experts will visit development blocks and villages during Krishi Mahotsav. Farmers should be helped to avail maximum benefit from experts’ knowledge. He said that self-help groups, non-government organisations and progressive farmers should be connected with Krishi Mahotsav.
Enumerating benefits of use of agricultural implements, Shri Chouhan urged to popularise techniques like drip irrigation. He urged to promote production of organic farming, activate Water Users Associations and make available copies of khasra-khatauni.
Swachh Bharat – Swachh Madhya Pradesh: The Chief Minister said that various programmes will be held to create awareness among people to turn Swachh Bharat Abhiyan into mass movement. It will become
every person’s movement as a result of thinking of Prime Minister and willpower of the state government.
The Chief Minister informed that public representatives should create a favourable atmosphere in their respective areas before launch of first phase of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on October 2. Every government servant from the Chief Secretary to the lowest rank will participate in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on October 2. He said that he will lead Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Every citizen will take part in it. For this, every person can undertake publicity at his own level. School students will actively participate in it. He said that maintaining cleanliness in temples of knowledge schools is not derogatory. He said that the people should come forward to take responsibility of cleanliness at all the public places including hospitals, schools, sabzi mandis and roadsides where garbage is dumped. Maintenance of cleanliness is responsibility of both government and society.
Informing about activities from October 2 to November 19, the Chief Minister asked public representatives to chalk out sanitation programmes on the basis of local conditions of village, towns and cities. He said that a resolve should be taken to eradicate curse of open-area defecation by year 2018. For this, toilets are needed in every household.
The Chief Minister was informed by public representatives of Gwalior, Chhatarpur, Betul and Khandwa about creative efforts underway in their respective areas. Replying to public representatives questions, the Chief Minister said that it is more important to change the mindset than abundance or shortage of resources. Divisional Commissioners informed the Chief Minister about preparations for Krishi Mahotsav and conduct of various programmes.
Agriculture Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen, PHE and Animal Husbandry Minister Sushri Kusum Mahdele, Minister of State for GAD Shri Lal Singh Arya, Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa and Principal Secretaries of various departments were present at video-conferencing.
