IT Centre to be inaugurated today, Madhya Pradesh to joined list of developed states

Bhopal: The State IT Centre is now ready as the main centre for information technology activities in Madhya Pradesh. The unique building in the country constructed at a cost of Rs. 60 crore will house offices of State Data Centre, SWAN Network Monitoring Centre, Madhya Pradesh State Electronic Development Corporation and MAPIT. Madhya Pradesh has joined the list of developed states in the IT sector with the construction of this ultramodern centre.
Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Information Technology Minister Shri Kailash Vijaywargiya will inaugurate the centre at Arera Hills here on December 12 at 6 pm.
About the centre: Maximum number of services of government departments are being delivered to people electronically following introduction of e-governance in administration. Besides this, the work of internal maintenance of information, monitoring of programmes etc is also being done electronically. The sets of information, data and files which were stored in written form are now being stored in softwares. It is a challenging task to store this data safely and transfer it swiftly. In the beginning, departments started work through their own small servers as per requirement. But, global safety norms could not be followed in these servers. Besides, there was no arrangement to store data separately. Therefore, concept of State Data Centre under four types of core infrastructures was evolved under the National e-Governance Plan for running e-governance activities. Its objective is to make available a shared, trustworthy and safe infrastructural service of e-Governance application management to the State Government and its departments, corporations, boards etc. The date centre has been developed as high security zone. There will be no unauthorised entry into it. The centre is equipped with biometric access control and CCTVs. Through SWAN, vertical and horizontal connectivity has been provided in entire state. A network monitoring center has been set up for real time monitoring at the state level.
State-wide Area Network (SWAN), Common Service Centre (CSC) and State Service Delivery Gateway (SSDG) are other three core infrastructures under the National e-Governance Plan. Offices upto tahsil level are being connected with state level offices through dedicated network of SWAN.
Benefit to departments: From the centre, the departments will get the facilities of data maintenance for IT services, safe management system as per international norms, uninterrupted connectivity and specialised services. This will ensure prompt and more effective exchange of data and services under G to C (between government and citizens), G to G (Between various government departments) and G to B (between government and business). The departments maintaining their data at the centre will get 24-hour power supply, cooling, restricted entry & round-the-clock vigil, safety from fire, monitoring through building management system & equipment management system, help desk, backup, disaster management, uninterrupted connectivity, storage and blade server.
Ways for usage: Two types of hosting modules for maintaining data will be available at the centre. Small departments with less data can use Data Centre’s infrastructure to store their respective data. Due to this, they will not have to purchase hardware since centre’s management services will remain available to them. Major departments with more data can get hardware and software hosted. General services of the centre will remain available to them with the option that they can do this work themselves as well.
Benefits to citizens: The State IT Centre will accelerate pace of e-governance work in the state, bring about transparency in administration, ensure effective monitoring of government works and delivery of public services at a rapid pace electronically.
