Increase in Technical Education Facilities in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal. An increase has been registered in the numbers of technical education institutes and admission capacity due the effective efforts of the State Government. In comparison to 2005, around 500 percent in admission in B.E. courses and 400 percent increase in diploma courses have been registered till last financial year. During this period, the number of engineering colleges and polytechnic colleges has increased to 336 and 329 percent respectively. There were 63 engineering colleges in the year 2004-05, which has grown to 212 in the year 2015. Similarly, polytechnic colleges have increased to 145 from 44.

I.T.I. seats become 1 Lakh 30 Thousand 564 from 18 thousand 664

Remarkable work has been carried out in the sector of skill development during the last 11 years. Where there were a total of 171 I.T.Is. in the year 2005, now it has risen to 930. Under this, the government I.I.Ts are gone up to 225 from 141. And seats are gone up to one lakh 19 thousand 665 from 18 thousand 664.

New Record of Development

New records have been established in the development of technical education during the last 11 years. Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing was established at Jabalpur in the year 2005. Moreover, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research and School of Planning and Architecture at Bhopal were established in the year 2008. Similarly, I.I.T Indore was set up in the year 2009.

A total of 86 government/private engineering and polytechnic colleges have been selected by the All India Technical Education Council- New Delhi under the Pradhanmantri Skill Development Scheme. Unemployed youths will be provided training for skill development in these colleges. Further, there is a plan to impart training to the students of polytechnic related to I.I.Ts. Community colleges have been established in the four polytechnic colleges to facilitate students to get training in special trade after the prescribed time limit.

Qualitative improvement in Education

In order to bring qualitative improvement in education, special efforts were undertaken to fill the vacant posts during the last 11 years. In polytechnic colleges, 315 posts have been filled whereas 44 posts have been filled in engineering colleges. Moreover, to ensure cent percent students’ attendance, online attendance is sent to the university beside it is uploaded in the institution’s website. Furthermore, lectures are being conducted by the subject experts. Also workshop was organized after intensive discussions with teachers, experts, officers of the universities and representatives of NESCOM for change in prevailing courses and skill development. Bio-Metric attendance arrangements have been made for the officers and employees from August this year.

Future Schemes

Two new technical universities are proposed at Ujjain and Jabalpur in the state, whereas establishment of engineering college with cooperation of NTPC at Shivpuri, engineering college at Singrauli with cooperation of Ministry of Steel – Government of India and M.P. Mining Corporation, engineering college at Dhar under National Higher Education Campaign, construction of online examination centers having 1000 students capacity at district head quarters on PPP mode, commencing of ITI training institutes in the existing polytechnic colleges under the scheme of All India Technical Education Council-New Delhi and establishment of new polytechnic college at Agar-Malwa are proposed from the next academic session in the state.
