Election Commission direction on inclusion of names of eligible voters in electoral rolls

BHOPAL.  The chief electoral officer of Madhya Pradesh Jaideep Govind has directed district collectors to ensure disposal of applications received during door-to-door survey in the state positively by July-end. The survey was conducted from April 15 to June 15 as per directives of election commission of India. After scrutiny of applications received in some district, names of 5.20 lakh voters have been included in electoral rolls. Over 75 per cent applications received during the campaign have been disposed of in Harda, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Indore and Neemuch district. However, progress of the work is not satisfactory in several districts.

The chief electoral officer has instructed the collectors to ensure continuous process of including voters’ names in photo electoral rolls under Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) prepared by the election commission. Directives have been given to pay special attention to include names of 18-year-old eligible voters and women in electoral rolls.
