CM launches rural drinking water monitoring system

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched a rural drinking water monitoring system for redressal of complaints pertining to hand pumps. This would facilitate registration and solution of complaints about hand pumps. Shri Chouhan reviewed drinking water supply situation in urban and rural areas at his residence here today. He instructed to immediately make alternative arrangements in problem areas. He said that the concerning staff should immediately visit the places reporting difficult situations.

The Chief Minister asked the authorities concerned to be ready with emergency plans for every city and village. He said that by end of this year all cities and villages must have drinking water plans so that every family has access to drinking water. He said that continuous use of hand pumps for years together has led to depletion of ground water level. The surface water supply system is the only alternative for the future. He asked the officers to be ready
with comprehensive action plan for surface drinking water supply system by end of 2016.

The Chief Minister said that tapped water schemes sanctioned under Bundelkhand package should be functional and people’s complaints should be immediately addressed.

Rural drinking water monitoring system

The Chief Minister launched rural drinking water monitoring system to address complaints about non-functional hand pumps. Complainants can send SMS on 7389939899 typing phed <space> hand pump code <space> complaint type. The SMS is received by concerning assistant engineer, sub engineer and hand pump technician who respond immediately. The status of the complaint is reported to the complainant through SMS. If not satisfied, the complainant can repeat the complaint.

Mobile APP

In addition to SMS based complaint redressal system, a mobile application Madhya Pradesh Jal can be downloaded. This application enables the complainant to reach out to concerning assistant engineer, sub engineer and hand pump technician who immediately come into action and address the complaint.

For Interactive Voice Response system an easy number 9200067890 is available to complainants. On dialing, it demands certain information such as hand pump code, area, type of complaint etc. If complaints are not attended within specific time period, it is transferred to higher authorities.

Those present included the Chief Secretary Shri Anthony De Sa, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Smt. Aruna Sharma, Commissioner Urban Administration and secretary to C.M. Shri Vivek Agarwal, Principal Secretary Public Health Engineering Shri Ashwini Roy and senior officers.
