Annadata farmers should not be made part of politics: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that farmers should not be made part of politics and one should keep away from playing politics on their issues. They are Annadata of the country. They should get every facility. Referring to development of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Chouhan said that its beginning was made with basic infrastructure development and now state is maintaining economic growth rate in double digit.

Addressing a news channel’s programme “MP Summit based on Agriculture Growth” today, Shri Chouhan said that unprecedented achievements have been made in the state by increasing irrigation facilities. Economy will also be durable if agriculture is good. He said that state’s economy remained unaffected even during economic recession due to agriculture growth.

Replying to a question, Shri Chouhan said that incidents like suicides will cease when agriculture will become a profitable occupation. He said that farming in the state has yielded desired results due to efforts like adequate supply of seeds, fertilisers, water and power, reduction in farming cost, good prices of produce, high rate of seed replacement, increase in storage capacity and loans at zero percent interest rate.

Land Acquisition Bill not anti-farmer

Shri Chouhan said that Centre’s Land Acquisition Bill is not anti-farmer. For years, farmers’ lands used to be acquired at throwaway prices. Now the country has moved in the right direction. He said that if government had not done good work, people would have voted it out. He said that government keeps learning lacunae in schemes due to direct dialogue with people and are removed in time. Therefore, implementation of schemes faces no difficulty.

Farmers need to be given better alternatives

Shri Chouhan said that that until farmers are not provided better alternatives, they would remain in the clutches of moneylenders. He said that this situation has almost ceased in Madhya Pradesh. Efforts are being made to provide better alternatives to farmers. Regarding power, the Chief Minister said that 14 thousand MW power is being generated which is surplus for the state. Farmers are getting adequate power. Shri Chouhan said that food grains storage capacity has increased manifold. Modern technologies are being used. Replying to a question on country’s economy, Shri Chouhan said that now it is on right path. Employment generation sector is opening up.

Referring to Krishi Mahotsav, Shri Chouhan said that it is an effort to apprise farmers of new methods and techniques of farming. It is also an initiative to advice farmers on crop cycle change.

PM helps Yoga get new identity

Shri Chouhan said that Yoga needs to be used for good health and creating positive energy in the society. Yoga always existed, but Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has helped it get a new identity on world level. Shri Modi is a global level leader.

Greetings to IIT toppers

Congratulating 3 toppers of Madhya Pradesh in IIT Advance, Shri Chouhan said that students of Madhya Pradesh talented and capable. This year, 137 students of tribal areas of the state have also cleared IIT prelims, which is a matter of happiness.

Referring to increasing investment in industrial sector, Shri Chouhan said that state has good environment for investment. Land bank has been constituted. There is no loss of human labour. Central government is extending maximum cooperation. He said that all states become members of Team India. He said that every state should perform well. He described increase in states’ share in Central taxes to 42 percent as major step in the interest of states.

Progressive farmers felicitated

On the occasion, Shri Chouhan felicitated progressive farmers for innovations in agriculture and creative use of technology in increasing crop yield. The felicitated farmers included Mankunwar Bai, Shri Suresh Madhav, Barkhera, Bhopal, Shri Gangaram Baghel, Bhind, Madanlal Kachhwaha, Neemuch, Shri Kalu Singh, Dewas, Shri Kamal Singh, Dewas, Shri Ganesh Singh Yadav, Khargone, Shri Rahul Singh, Khandwa, Shri Husenya Kashiram and Shri Narayan Singh Batham, Bhind.

Agriculture Minister Gaurishankar Bisen, Health Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Revenue Minister Shri Rampal Singh, Public Relations Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Maya Singh, MP Shri Alok Sanjar, MLAs Shri Vishwas Sarang and Shri Rameshwar Sharma and Mayor Bhopal Shri Alok Sharma were also present.
