Advani dedicates the Narmada Kshipra linke projecct to people of Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Malwa region witnessed historic confluence of 2 holy rivers Narmada and Kshipra today. Ex-Deputy Prime Minister Shri Lal Krishna Advani dedicated Madhya Pradesh government’s ambitious Rs. 432 crore Narmada-Kshipra Link Project at Kshipra’s originating point at village Mundla Dostar (Ujjaini) in Indore district. Shri Advani said that this confluence will become a new centre of pilgrimage in the country. Abhishek of Lord Mahakal in next Mahakumbh will be done with Narmada water. This project has been completed in a short span of just 14 months.
Shri Advani said that whenever he comes to Madhya Pradesh, he witnesses new proofs of development. He said that only 14 months ago, apprehensions were being expressed that Malwa will turn a desert. This project will be fruitful for Malwa region. In future, Malwa will also get water as a result of Shri Chouhan’s resolve to link Kali Sindh, Parwati and Gambhir rivers.

Shri Advani said that former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee had announced river-link project to save the country from droughts and overcome shortage of dirking water. A task force for this was constituted headed by the then Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu. Giving a ruling to this effect, the Supreme court had directed in year 2012 to constitute a committee of ministers and officers and hold its meetings every 2 month. Shri Advani said that a similar project was undertaken in Gujarat by flowing Narmada water into Sabarmati river

Malwa to turn green: Shri Advani said that after Narmada-Kshipra link, now Kali Sindh, Gambhir and Parwati rivers will also be linked with Narmada. Gradually, all Malwa rivers will be inter-linked. Malwa will have plenty of water and turn lush green. He informed that the Supreme Court in one its orders had observed in year 2012 that work of linking rivers is not being undertaken in the country. We are proud that Madhya Pradesh has done a commendable work in this direction.

Narmada water will change destiny: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Narmada water has come to change destiny of Malwa. The project will provide irrigation and drinking water to a large area in Malwa region. It will increase groundwater level. Malwa will have ample water and food. He said that the state government’s resolve to bring Narmada to Malwa has been fulfilled today. Village Ujjaini will become a new pilgrimage centre. Shri Chouhan said that under river-link project, Narmada water will be flown into Gambhir river at a cost of Rs. 2200 crore. Later, Kali Sindh and Parwati rivers will also be linked with Narmada following which 16 lakh acre will be irrigated and drinking water will be provided to 3 thousand villages and 72 towns in the region including Dewas and Shajapur. Crops will sway right from Ujjain to Neemuch and industries will get ample water. Shri Chouhan that had special words of praise for Principal Secretary Water Resources Shri Rajneesh Vaish and his team of engineers and employees.

The Chief Minister said that re-building of the state has begun. Madhya Pradesh will be made number one state in the country with the cooperation of every section of society. State is making progress in agriculture sector. Now, 24×7 power is supplied in the state. Outstanding work is also being undertaken in industrial and technical sectors. A day before, foundation stone for Infosys has been laid at Indore. Asia’s largest solar power plant is all set to be inaugurated in Neemuch.

The Chief Minister said that Dev Guradiya and Kevdeshwar temples will be renovated. He said that a 4-lane road is being constructed upto confluence at Dev Guradiya. It will be upgraded to 6-lain if needed in future.

At the outset, Shri Advani, Shri Gadkari, Baba Ramdev, Smt. Sushma Swaraj etc. unveiled a foundation plaque at the confluence point. They released Narmada water and worshipped Maa Narmada.
