Narmada Seva Yatra Becomes Public Movement to Conserve Environment

Bhopal. ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ Seva Yatra is transformed into a public movement with the cooperation of government and society. Yatra on its 73rd day reached Dharmraj covering village Dengcha, Jawda of Dhar district where Jan-Sanvad was held for the conservation of Narmada River. Yatra was welcomed by tribals wearing colourful attires beating drums in large number.

In the Jan-Sanvad programme, Former MLA Shri Mukam Singh Kirade said that efforts to conserve Narmada River are utmost necessary. There is a need for positive initiative with the cooperation of people to prevent pollution in Narmada River, water conservation and proper utilization of its resources. He further mentioned that keeping in view this ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ seva yatra is being conducted by the state government in the special form. Focus has been laid in the yatra mainly to conserve Narmada river to spread awareness with the cooperation of people towards sanitation on the banks of river Narmada, water and soil conservation and to prevent pollution.

Shri Kirade administered pledge to the tribals in Bhili language for de-addiction. He said that a financial assistance of Rs. 12 thousand is being paid by the state government for toilet construction. Hence, they should construct toilet necessarily in their houses.

Nagar Panchayat Administrator said that use of bio fertilisers should be encouraged to prevent water pollution from chemical fertilisers and pesticides. Nadep and wormi compost system can be adopted for this. Release of minimum water is must from dams constructed on Narmada and its tributary rivers to make Narmada river flow incessant. Not to dispose plastic and garbage in river should be strictly adhered. Also use of plastic and polythene must be banned on the banks of Narmada and its tributary rivers.

Chief Municipality Officer Shri Shaikh presented song based on Narmada River. Moreover, mute play on de-addiction was presented by the school students. Vote of thanks was given by President Janpad Panchayat – Dahi Shri Jaideep Patel. President Jila Panchayat Smt. Malti Patel, Shri Swaraj Singh, Shri Sher Singh, Sharda Patel, Bholya Baba and Village Sarpanch Smt. Rekha Bai were present on the occasion.

Narmada seva yatra will reach Goteshwar on February 23 covering Gikarwas, Behad, Chandankhedi and Nisarpur. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will address yatra at Goteshwar. Famous bhajan singer Smt. Anuradha Podwal will present bhajans.
