Maryam Nawaz Withdraws Nomination Papers From NA-125 Constituency

Lahore, July 2: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz on Monday withdrew her nomination papers from NA-125 constituency, said reports. Nawaz’s counsel Tanvir Zia Butt submitted a plea to the Returning Officer, requesting for withdrawal of her nomination papers from NA-125.

Nawaz explained in the plea that she did not want to contest election from NA-125 and also asked not that her name and symbol not be printed on the ballet paper. After the submission of the plea, RO Asif Bashir returned the nomination papers of Nawaz submitted from NA-125 constituency.

Earlier, there were reports that Nawaz will contest poll from NA-125 as an Independent candidate. The Election Commission of Pakistan’s Returning Officer Asif Bashir had allotted ‘pencil’ symbol to Nawaz after she announced her decision to contest election from NA-125 as an Independent.

Nawaz will now be contesting from two seats -National Assembly (NA)-127 in Lahore and from Punjab assembly constituency PP-173 – in the upcoming general elections in the country on July 25. The PML-N’s parliamentary board has also approved Maryam’s candidacy from the NA-127 constituency, Geo TV reported.
