Two Crore Sugar Seized from Mandideep

Bhopal:  In continuum of its drive against hoarders and black marketers, the Madhya Pradesh food department raided two premises located at the industrial township of Mandideep, on the outskirts of Bhopal and seized 6,670 quintal sugar estimated at over Rs two crore in the market.

The latest raids take the total sugar confiscated in various raids conducted across the state over the last fortnight to 54,727 quintals valued at nearly Rs 16.41 crore in the open market, say officials.

According to provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Sugar Trading Act, a transaction and storage licence allows a trader to store a maximum of 2,000 quintals of the cane based sweetner.
