Putin Wins Russian election amids allegations of Fraud

RUSSIA: Vladir Putin once again wins Russian presidency election. He got about 64% votes.

He is set to return the office he held four years ago.His nearest rival, Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov, fell short of 20% in both exit polls. The election was held against a discontent, sparked by allegations of widespread fraud during the December election in favour of United Russia.

“We won in an open and honest fight!” said Putin, “We urge everyone to unite around the interests of Russia,” Putin was quoted as saying by the Russian news agency Ria Novosti.

Opposition alleging frauds in the election. Zyuganov said that his party would not recognize the official results of the election, calling it “illegitimate, dishonest and untransparent.” Monitors are saying that votes are skewed for puitin. Golos, an independent monitoring group, said that it had registered at least 3,100 reports of violations in the whole nation.

Thousands of opposition activists as well as an international observer mission were also monitered the polls.

Alexei Pushkov, an adviser to Putin, told that while there might have been violations, they had happened on all sides, and would not have distorted the final result.
