Mayawati hits out at Congress over NSA row in Madhya Pradesh cow slaughter, calls it ‘state-terror’

Mayawati equated the invoking of NSA against Muslims with that of slapping of sedition charges on 14 AMU students

Lucknow: There is hardly any let up in the belligerence in BSP chief Mayawati’s attitude towards Congress Party despite AICC chief Rahul Gandhi’s humble overtures.
In a latest attack on the Congress, the BSP chief on Thursday equated the Congress party with BJP saying there was no difference between its government in Madhya Pradesh and the BJP government in
Uttar Pradesh. Both parties, she said, ruled with a form of intimidation.
Taking to the twitter to slam Kamalnath’s government in MP and Yogi government in UP, Mayawati equated the invoking of National Security Act (NSA) against Muslims over charges of cow slaughter with
that of slapping of sedition charges on 14 AMU students.
“Congress government in MP like BJP slapped atrocious NSA against Muslims for cow slaughter. Now the Uttar Pradesh BJP government has booked 14 AMU students under notorious sedition charges.
Both are examples of state terror and condemnable,” Mayawati tweeted on Thursday.
“People should decide what difference (there is) between the Congress and BJP governments is,” she added.
Mayawati has sharpened her attack against Congress at a time when the party has resolved to go the whole hog in UP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with the appointment of Priyanka Gandhi after
being elbowed by the SP and BSP while clinching an anti-BJP alliance in the state.
Though AICC Rahul Gandhi has been extremely humble in his approach toward BSP supremo, yet he has reiterated a number of times that now the Congress was also a force to reckon with in UP and it
would play on the front foot by fielding candidates on all 80 seats of Lok Sabha.
This is not the first time the BSP supremo has hit out at the grand old party. Earlier, she had attacked the Congress government in MP, of which the BSP is a part, and sought it to take back cases registered
against Dalits during the Bharat Bandh protest of April last year otherwise she would be forced to review her party’s support to the Congress.
Mayawati had also condemned the MP and Rajasthan government, led by Congress party, of cheating the farmers over loan waiver an issue on which Congress gathered votes in recently concluded
assembly elections in two states.
She has also been critical of the farm loan waivers promises that have is said to be one of the key reasons for the Congress victory in the Assembly elections of three Hindi Heartland states.
On her birthday, the BSP chief had accused Congress of failing to live up to the expectations of the people, despite being the longest rulers in the history of India. The poor, backward classes and the
minorities, she added, could not get their due in terms of development.
