Private college girls will also get the benefit of ‘Gaon ki Beti’ Yojna

BHOPAL (MPINFO): Higher Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma has said that now the benefit of Gaon Ki Beti Yojna will also be extended to girl students of private colleges.

He was speaking at the state-level Career Fair at Maharani Laxmibai Post-graduate College recently.

So far, this benefit is being given to the 32 thousand 225 rural girl students passing class XII exams in first division in 400 government colleges and the colleges getting grant. A sum of Rs. 23 crore 50 lakh is being spent on the scheme. Now, this benefit will be extended to 50 thousand more girl students studying in 686 non-government colleges. A sum of about Rs. 40 crore will be spent on it. Under the scheme, each girl student is given Rs. 5000 per annum.

The Higher Education Minister Sharma said that on one hand the State Government is making recruitments on a large scale in government sectors also making arrangements for direct placement through Career Fairs on the other hand.

Appointments for 1.25 lakh posts will be made this year in the various government departments. Professional Education Board is organising exam on January 22 for recruitment of about one lakh contractual school teachers.

Sharma visited various stalls and talked to students and employment providers. He said that making employment available is top priority of the state government.

The function was presided over by Barkatullah University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nisha Dubey. The Higher Education Minister also distributed certificates among office-bearers of student unions of colleges. He also handed over certificates to officers who implemented Vivekanand Career Guidance Scheme excellently.
