High Court said – Government should end the drivers’ strike: Transport Minister said – he is talking for truce

The impact of the truck-bus drivers’ strike in Madhya Pradesh for the second day on Tuesday is visible on essential services. Due to this, Madhya Pradesh High Court has instructed the government to end the strike. In the hearing on two petitions on Tuesday, the High Court said, ‘The strike should be ended immediately. The government should restore transportation. On this, the Advocate General said on behalf of the government, ‘An important decision is being taken in this matter by this evening.’ These petitions have been filed on behalf of Citizen Consumer Forum and Akhilesh Tripathi.

Due to the drivers’ strike, the supply of milk, vegetables and groceries has reduced in other districts including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior. Vegetables became expensive in most cities. School-college buses remained closed. There was a clash between police and protesters in Khargone. The striking drivers in Burhanpur tried to garland other drivers with shoes and slippers. Deflated many vehicles.

Drivers are protesting against the law related to hit and run, in which there is a provision of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7 lakh.

Transport Minister said – the strike will end soon

Transport Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh told Dainik Bhaskar over phone, ‘Earlier also the government has requested the drivers not to go on strike. This law has been made for such people who have been doing hit and run work. This law is not going to cause any trouble for ordinary drivers.

He said- The government is continuously in talks with the drivers association. It is expected that the drivers will return from the strike soon. Along with the people, the families of the drivers are also being affected by this strike. An attempt has been made to misinterpret the law that has been made. The government is interacting with the drivers to make them aware of the real aspects of the law. It is expected that the drivers’ strike will end soon.

There are long queues at petrol pumps in Bhopal city since Tuesday morning. There was a queue till the road at the petrol pump at Rachna Nagar intersection. People have to wait for half to an hour. President of Bhopal Petrol Diesel Association, Ajay Singh said that he has talked to the drivers regarding the shortage of petrol. Most of the drivers have agreed to deliver petrol. It is expected that the situation will improve on Tuesday, because tankers have started leaving the depot on Monday night. Stock was also exhausted at many petrol pumps.

The Chamber of Commerce and Petroleum Association in Khandwa had informed the MP, Collector and SP on Monday night about the shortage of petrol and diesel. He said that the drivers’ strike will not stop now. After which 17 empty vehicles were sent from Khandwa to Mangalia depot of Indore. On Tuesday morning, all the vehicles have left for Khandwa under the protection of police force.

In Umaria, the administration has set a limit for giving petrol and diesel to drivers. Petrol-diesel has been sent from Indore to Khandwa and Burhanpur under police guard. Drivers of door-to-door garbage collection vehicles in Khandwa have also supported the strike. The biggest traffic problem is on the Ujjain to Ratlam route. Trains are also not running due to the ongoing work on Bhopal-Ramganj Mandi third line.

Jabalpur: Driver said- Bus owner keeps coming home and threatening

Drivers in Jabalpur allege that bus owners are spreading rumors that the strike is over from today, whereas it is not so. Bus owners are going door to door threatening drivers that they will be fired from their jobs. Bus owners held a meeting on Monday and decided

Drivers parked their trucks on the road near Bagdara Valley on Sohawal Mode and Chitrakoot Road in Satna and blocked the road. People traveling in private vehicles are also facing problems due to disruption in traffic. The administration has also held a meeting with transport businessmen.

City buses in Bhopal and Indore remained closed on Tuesday also. Chartered buses running between Bhopal-Indore also did not run. Similarly, all buses including chartered ones are closed in Jabalpur and Gwalior. BCLL spokesperson Sanjay Soni said that the sources are talking to the drivers of service, chartered and red buses but at present there is no response on arrival.

Autos are running in some areas of Bhopal. Auto drivers in Jabalpur and Narmadapuram are also on strike in support of bus-truck drivers. President of Sarvdharma Auto Drivers Association, Bhopal, Adil Khan said that auto drivers are also on strike on Tuesday. However, we are not refusing elderly and sick people. More than three thousand autos run in Bhopal. Autos are running in Gwalior as usual.

Ola and Uber services have also been affected in Bhopal and Indore. Booking is being done but the booking is not being accepted. District President of Taxi Union, Nafees Uddin said that most of the cab drivers will remain on strike till January 3. More than two thousand cabs run in Bhopal. About one thousand cab drivers are on strike.

Milk vehicle: Milk supply affected by 30%

30% milk supply was affected in Bhopal. Supply of Sanchi and Amul milk continues. The milk union collected milk through city vehicles and brought it to the factory. There is also news of milk not reaching some areas. The supply of Sanchi milk in the capital is about 2.5 lakh liters per day. At the same time, the consumption of Amul milk is 70 thousand liters per day. The consumption of loose milk ranges from 6 to 8 lakh liters per day.

Supply of milk and vegetables was affected in Narmadapuram. Milk Union MD Satish Kumar said that there is an issue of drivers. Many drivers have been called with the help of the collector.

Tuesday was declared holiday in many schools in Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh School Bus Service Operating Committee Chairman Shivkumar Soni said that school buses and school vans will remain closed on Tuesday also. More than 1.25 lakh school buses and vans run in the state. However, online classes are being held in some schools of Indore and Bhopal.

 

In Indore, Collector Dr. Ilaiah Raja T had also given instructions to all the schools to run buses, but many school buses did not run on Tuesday. The children stood at the bus stop. The family called the conductor-driver and confirmed. After this he returned home. Many family members themselves reached school to drop their children. At the same time, many schools were closed. Online classes were held in some.

Vegetable market: 70 percent business affected

Carts carrying vegetables did not arrive in Bhopal’s Karond Mandi on Tuesday. Vendors say that some farmers will bring vegetables to the market in their own vehicles. More than 70 percent of fruit and vegetable arrivals may be affected. Due to this, vegetables and fruits can become expensive. Vegetable carts did not arrive in Choithram Mandi of Indore. Same is the condition of Jabalpur market.

Grocery: 100% supply affected in Bhopal

Grocery goods are supplied from the wholesale markets of Bhopal within a radius of 200 km. 50% supply was affected on the first day of the strike. General Secretary of Bhopal Traders Federation, Anupam Aggarwal said that goods reach 200 kilometers from Bhopal’s wholesale grocery market including Sehore, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Raisen, Vidisha, Chhindwara, but today the supply is completely stopped.

Pulses come from Indore, Dabra, Pipariya, sugar from Maharashtra, rice from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Delhi. At the same time, flour is supplied from local mills. Every day up to 200 tonnes of groceries are supplied to the city and surrounding districts.

There was no supply of goods from the surrounding markets including Siyaganj Kirana Market, the main wholesale market of Indore.
