IPL Points Table 2019, Standings, ranking, orange cap, purple cap after MI vs CSK

Mumbai Indians inflicted Chennai Super Kings’ first defeat in IPL 2019 as they outclassed the defending champions by 37 runs on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. “I think quite a few things went wrong for us. We started well, were right on the mark for the first 10-12 overs. Then, a few catches were dropped, a few misfields, the death overs bowling wasn’t great. We don’t have bowlers who hit the deck, it was slightly tough on them. We do have one-on-one plans, we needed to know where we could cut-off the boundaries, which batsmen to target,a boundary less or two could have made a difference to a 10-12 run over or a 7-run over,” said Dhoni after the defeat.

Updated points table:

Mumbai Indians scripted their second win in IPL 2019 to clim to the sixth position with four points. Meanwhile, CSK stand second in IPL 2019 points table with six points. KXIP stand atop, also with six points, but standing ahead of CSK in terms of net run rate.

Orange Cap table:

The Sunrisers Hyderabad pair of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow sit comfortably atop on the Orange Cap table with 254 runs and 198 runs respectively from the four matches they have played so far in IPL 2019. Andre Russell from KKR, and the DC pair of Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan complete the top-five list. After the match between CSK and MI on Wednesday, there has been no particular change in the top-10 positions in the list.

Purple Cap table:

RCB’s Yuzvendra Chahal maintains the top position in the Purple Cap list with his tally of eight wickets in four matches. The CSK pair of Imran Tahir and Dwayne Bravo take the second and third position respectively with seven wickets apiece. Tahir dismissed Yuvraj Singh at the Wankhede Stadium in the CSK vs MI battle while Bravo got rid of Suryakumar Yaadv to record his 100th wicket for CSK. Meanwhile, Malinga snared three wickets and Hardik also picked three wickets in the contest on Wednesday.
