Cong MLA supports jailed terrorist’s cause: Chouhan

In a fresh attack against the Congress government, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday alleged that a ruling party MLA was openly advocating cause of the terrorists lodged in Bhopal central jail.

Chouhan’s allegation came a day after Congress MLA Arif Masood’s statement in which the lawmaker urged the Chief Minister Kamal Nath to remove DG Jail Sanjay Chaudhary. The MLA, an old aide of Digvijaya Singh, is upset with the DG (prisons) after the officer declined his demand of allowing food items from outside to the inmates of central jail. Masood had demanded that outside food items should be allowed inside the jail as per the jail manual.

The MLA wanted outside food items to be allowed inside the jail for Roza Iftar (customary breaking of daylong fast in evening) during the holy month of Ramadan, a proposal vehemently opposed by the Jail senior officer.

Masood had even claimed he would personally look into the matter if the DG wasn’t removed. Things took an ugly turn with the presence of SIMI operatives in the Bhopal central jail. Chouhan taking a pot shot on Congress over Masood’s statement, on Wednesday told the media that he was concerned as a Congress MLA was openly batting for terrorists. Earlier also the Congress was seen standing with the terrorists, claimed the Chouhan. Chouhan claimed that he had seen a video in which a Congress MLA is threatening Chief Minister to remove DG (Prisons). Asking why he wanted to get the officer removed, Chouhan himself replied claiming so that the outside material could be sent to the terrorists in the jail. Congress media coordinator Narendra Saluja supported the MLA saying Arif Masood had backed allowing eatables from outside the jail for all prisoners (from all religions).

He did not use terrorists word but the BJP was an expert in spreading lies. Sources claimed Masood an MLA from Bhopal Central assembly seat with sizable Muslim population had made his resentment known to the party as well on Tuesday when CM Kamal Nath had summoned MLAs for a lunch.

Neither ministers nor officer listen to me, so what should I do, should I resign, Masood had reportedly told the party on Tuesday reportedly over the jail officers’ denial to allow outside food inside central jail for Roza Iftar.

Masood had also alleged that the previous BJP government had n ot banned outside eatables inside the central jail and it was a circular from DG (Prisons) which bars outside food in the jail.
