Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that poor parents should no longer worry about the marriage of their daughters. Their mama is getting the daughters married. Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana, mass marriages are organised by the government and cheques worth Rs 49,000 each are given to the couples to buy household items. Since this scheme was started in the year 2006, our government has got marriages/nikahs of lakhs of poor daughters of Madhya Pradesh conducted.

Chief Minister Chouhan along with his wife Sadhna Singh participated in Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana event at Gillaur, Bhairunda Tehsil in Sehore district today. While giving blessings and best wishes to 470 newly-wed couples, he said, “Mama ki duayen leti ja, ja tujhko sukhi sansar mile”.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that continuous work is being done for the welfare of sisters and daughters in the state. After Ladli Lakshmi and Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana, now Ladli Bahna Yojana has been started, in which an amount of Rs.1000 per month is given to the sisters. Now the minimum age limit in this scheme has been reduced to 21 years. The amount will be increased gradually in the scheme and up to Rs.3000 will be given to the sisters every month.

Chief Minister  Chouhan said that by including sisters in the Livelihood Mission, their income will be increased. Our aim is that every sister should earn at least Rs 10 thousand in a month. May every sister of mine be a lakhpati. We should not let the sisters remain helpless, we have to make them strong. No one will live in poverty in the state, the government is with you, Mama is with you.

While blessing the newly married couples, Chief Minister Chouhan said that marriage is a holy sacrament, a holy bond. You should always stay together. The trust between husband and wife should not be broken. By marriage two bodies become one soul. Make your families proud. Always live happily and peacefully.

The marriage ceremony was performed according to all the rules and regulations. 430 marriages and 40 nikahs were solemnized in the conference. Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Prabhuram Chaudhary, MP Shri Ramakant Bhargava, MLA Shri Karan Singh etc. were present in the event.
