Approval to Four Irrigation Projects of State: CM

Bhopal. Cabinet meeting held at Pachmarhi under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave approval to four irrigation projects of 18 thousand 360 hectare area. Beside this approval was given to Madhya Pradesh Rural Connectivity project to reduce distance and to provide better approach road to facilitate market, health centres, education centres and industrial area etc. to the rural population.

While giving approval to irrigation projects, cabinet has given administrative sanction of Rs. 310.03 crore to Chhitakhudri Medium Irrigation Project of Jabalpur. This will facilitate irrigation on 8920 hectare area. Similarly, approval of Rs. 69 crore was given for Koteshwar (Imlipada) Minor irrigation project of Ratlam to increase irrigation capacity on 1995 hectare area. Moreover, approval of Rs. 162 crore was given for Kaith Medium irrigation project of Sagar. This will provide irrigation facility on 5135 hectare area. Twenty one villages of Rahli block of Sagar district will be benefitted by this project . Administrative sanction of Rs. 104 crore was provided for Bhavsa medium irrigation project of Burhanpur to increase irrigation facility on 2310 hectare area. These four irrigation projects will increase irrigation capacity on a total 18 thousand 360 hectare area in the state.

Furthermore, the cabinet has given approval to upgrade 10 thousand k.m. roads into tar roads from the roads constructed under the Mukhyamantri Rural Road project and approval for construction of 510 k.m. new roads for which 505 million U.S. dollars assistance received from the World bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment bank. The condition has been laid with this project that 5 thousand population must be benefitted on the basis of census 2011 and 50 percent distance must be reduced to facilitate market, health centres, education centers and industral area to the villagers of the last point of the new roads. The project will be implemented by Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority. The project will be completed within two years.
