Development in Dairy, Poultry sectors to accelerate growth

Bhopal: Calling the present economic scenario in the country as “Jhat-Pat (instant), Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said development in dairy and poultry sectors development could accelerate the growth in the rural areas of the state.

Inaugurating an automatic plant to produce 25 tonnes of curd and 10,000 bottles of flavoured milk besides handed over agreement letter to new entrepreneurs to set up poultry units in the state at his official residence here, CM said these projects will help the farmers and rural people directly. Blaming the previous Mayawati government for spending public funds on construct of elephants, he said, “We have started the poultry and dairy projects afresh as both the industries were on the verge of closure due to the apathetic attitude of the previous government.”
The CM said at present marketing and packaging is the most vital ingredient of the dairy and poultry sectors in the country and a tough competition has thrown the state owned PARAG on verge of closure. ” We are committed to reviving PARAG and assure to give good returns to the farmers who are contributing milk to them through co-operative movement,” he said adding that the dairy market in the state was huge as it was over Rs 2 lakh crore seven years back and now it is much more.
Talking about the status of poultry sector in MP he said it is unfortunate that more than 10 million eggs are imported every day in the state. “The new initiatives will certainly revert the situation and UP will start exporting eggs and broilers. However, the CM made a critical remark on the officers that government is ready to approve the projects benefiting the rural people but they are lagging in their efforts.
