Centre Happy over Progress of BRTS Corridor

Secretary level officer in the Union Ministry of Urban Development SK Lohia has expressed pleasure over the progress of work on the BRTS Corridor that runs through the middle of state capital, said an official release.

The corridor, which goes through the city for 22 kilometers, is the longest corridor of the country.

Lohia visited the city on Monday and reviewed the work progress of the Rs 237.76 crore project.

He reviewed the works under the BRTS Scheme the construction of the Bus Terminal, Bairagarh Section, Kamla Park, and Priyadarshini Udyan.

He expressed his happiness that the work is continuously going on at the busiest and difficult places that goes through the city.

He also expressed pleasure over the quality of the construction. Width of the corridor is 30 meters.

Lohia also felt happy that officers of the State Government and the Bhopal Municipal Corporation worked like a team in transferring the government land for the corridor and removing the religious places that came on the way. The result was that work of the corridor construction moved on the expected pace, he said.

After reviewing the construction works, Lohia met the stake holders, consultant, bus operators, project implementing unit and contractors at the office of the project and gave them important tips to make the corridor simple and comfortable for the common man.

Seeing the present pace of construction works, Lohia hoped that the project would complete in stipulated time and the citizens of the city will be benefited of comfortable and trouble-free public transport system.

During the tour and review of works Bhopal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manish Singh, officers associated with BRTS project, consultants were present.

Lohia also visited the exhibition organised by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation near the BRTS Bus Terminal under construction in Bairagarh.

The exhibition included map of the BRTS Corridor, photos of corridor under construction and details of the corridor.
